Ali Asghar Hajibaba

Ali Asghar Hajibaba, son of Ali Azam, was born in 1931 in the heart of Tehran’s historic Naib-ol-Saltaneh Bazaar, into a hardworking merchant family. He completed his elementary education at Entesariyeh School near Oudlajan Market, where one of his notable memories was sharing a bench with the late Mustafa Chamran. After elementary school, he joined his father in business, gaining valuable experience in the social and commercial environment. In September 1953, he started iron trading by purchasing the lease of a shop on Buzarjomehri Street, opposite Haddadha Market. Within two years, with his father and brothers, his business expanded to import and distribution of iron. They established the “Van” company to systematize their work and opened four dedicated iron sales centers with warehouses. His familiarity with iron processes inspired him to enter the foundry industry. In 1963, along with his brothers, he founded Pars Metal and launched a large foundry factory, managing it until 1969. In the 1970s, seizing industrial investment opportunities, he sold his shares in Pars Metal and established the Shofajkar Industrial unit, which still operates today alongside Pars Metal. Ali Asghar Hajibaba was always passionate about industrial development and establishing new units, focusing on attracting small and medium investors. After the 1979 Islamic Revolution, he continued founding and expanding companies such as Tavan Silis, Iran Mold Casting, Rezitan, FerroSilis Iran, Hamrah Sanat, Ferroalloy Iran, and Ma’dani Hamrah Tolid. Married in 1952, he had two sons and three daughters, with both sons active in industry. Beyond work, he enjoyed football, weightlifting, wrestling, and never missed his morning walks. Known for his respectfulness, seriousness, sincerity, and integrity, he was deeply loved by colleagues and society. Ali Asghar Hajibaba is rightly called the father of modern foundry and ferroalloy industries in Iran. A nationalist, patriot, innovator, and visionary, he dreamed of a prosperous and advanced Iran. He stood firm like a mountain through turbulent times—from unjust imprisonment to harsh judgments after the revolution—always aiming to create a prosperous future and job opportunities for all Iranians. He firmly believed that without freedom, growth and development are impossible.
