Research and exploration into the history of Iran’s economy began in 1997, with the primary goal of identifying influential individuals who contributed to the development of the country’s businesses. The main purpose of this study was to create role models and transfer the knowledge of these figures from one generation to the next, while strengthening the independence of domestic production and combating the issue of economic dependency.
Through tireless efforts, a team of researchers and professors in the fields of economics and entrepreneurship successfully identified Iran’s great entrepreneurs.
Each of these stories was filled with struggles and hardships. Repeated requests for interviews with these entrepreneurs were met with fear of the aftermath of the 1979 revolution, which had forced many into a life of secrecy. Breaking this taboo was a painful and difficult journey. However, these hardships led to something remarkable:
Each book, like a newborn, was nurtured for days and months until it was born. These efforts not only resulted in the identification of Iran’s great entrepreneurs, but also inspired the creation of courses in universities, the entry of these figures into television programs, and the production of documentary series on their lives. For the first time in history, these entrepreneurs’ stories were translated into English and made available on global platforms like Amazon.
But the turning point of all these efforts came with the courage and wisdom of the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, Dr. Ezzatollah Zarghami, who supported this project by founding the National Museum of Great Iranian Entrepreneurs. His initiative ensured that future generations, just like those who honor poets, astronomers, mathematicians, and philosophers, will also take pride in the great entrepreneurs of Iran.
